Can you paint gearboxes to custom colours?
Yes we can. Our primary colour palette is AS2700. All paint manufacturers in Australia can tint paint to these colours. While we appreciate the desire to match specific paint colours, it does create some issues with paint storage and logistics with such a wide variety of gearbox brands the we see through our shop.
If you know the exact paint colour we can usually have the paint tinted to match. RAL colour codes is the preferred information.
There are a number of issues with matching paint colours other than AS2700.
- Some of the industrial paints we use have limitations with what colours they can be tinted. As industrial gear drives are usually painted fairly dark or neutral colours, this is rarely an issue, but still something to keep in mind
- We use different paints for different applications. It may be possible that a colour can be matched in 1 paint product, but can't be matched in another paint product.
- Sometimes it can be difficult to get colour information from manufacturers for an exact match. In these cases, we use the Australian Standard colour range to get an approximate match
- Proprietary paint colours from paint manufacturers are much harder to match, especially if the particular paint manufacturer does not operate in Australia. RAL colours are preferred as they are an international standard. This however does not guarantee that the colour can be matched.

www.encycolorpedia.com This is a free to use, very extensive database of paint colours with colour information from a vast array of local and international paint manufacturers. It is also an excellent tool for identifying similar colours.
